Izzie is preparing for Thanksgiving dinner.

Alex listens to a message from Izzie telling him to have the decency to call her if he's not coming to Thanksgiving Dinner. Cristina calls George, begging him to come home and save her from Burke, who is cooking up a storm. She asks him where they keep the liquor. He begs her to come save him from his beer guzzling father and brothers and she hangs up on him. Addison calls Derek. Meredith and Derek look for Holden McKee's wife in the lobby.

Alex and Meredith swap secrets about why they're not at Thanksgiving Dinner at her house. Meredith tells him she feels like she'll infect the happy people. Like she's some miserable, diseased, dirty ex-mistress. He tells her he failed the medical boards and doesn't want to tell Izzie because she'll be nice about it.

Burke and Izzie perform surgery on the turkey and Joe and his boyfriend are taking bets on how the turkey will turn out. Cristina is freaking out about the whole thing and tries to leave, but Burke stops her. George and his family are hiding and waiting to spot a turkey.

Izzie and Burke are cooking dinner and he asks her why she planned a big dinner when she can't cook. She says it's like a gift and she thought they should appreciate it. Bailey and Cristina perform surgery on the patient that swallowed the wishbone. Holden McKee is prepped for surgery and Meredith asks Derek if he would want the surgery if it were him. She says she would want the future or to be asleep again, nothing in between. He says he doesn't know what he'd want.

George and his dad are talking about how George isn't one of them (the guys in the family) and George tells his dad about how he saved the man's life in the elevator, by himeself - just like a real doctor. His dad is amazed and says that that's really something. Meredith is scrubbing in to join the surgery on Holden McKee and he dies before she finishes scrubbing in. As they are leaving the O.R., they see his son and Derek says he'll take care of it.

Meredith and Derek say goodbye to each other and she walks away from him. Izzie, Burke, Cristina and George are serving themselves dinner as Meredith watches through the window. Alex shows up for dinner. Burke and Cristina are sitting in the car. Derek arrives home to find Addison sitting outside in the rain. She asks him if he's done hurting her back and they kiss. Meredith is sitting at the bar when a guy asks if the seat next to her is taken. He buys her a drink.
