A Lovely Caledonian Spirit Down Under - Part One.
Well what a charming & beautiful story on Nine's Sunday Program of the 16th. inst.
I & along with many others it seems, including Ray Martin had not heard of this lad with such an interesting approach & love of all things musical, it's very refreshing to see someone with cerebral gateways open to many ideas that have resulted in such a brilliant gelling of stirring musical genres. Personally one loves all forms of music too, from classics like Handel's Water Music, or Vivaldi's Four Seasons to name a couple, too modern day. Not only has Sean O'Boyle a varied & wonderful excentric style, both musically & socially, but he has extraordinary good taste in Goddess Like Singing Creatures such as Kate Ceberano !
One has been a devotee of Kate's music for many a good year now, she has a vibrant attitude to life & music, so original in her ability to encompass such a wide range of songs, she & Sean O'Boyle are kindred spirits I think.
I must admit too not hearing too much of Kate in recent times, although I do know she has been very active, but as soon as I saw that lovely woman again ones thoughts turned to her appearance on ABC TV's Countdown back in 1985 where she was the lead singer with "I'm Talking" & the very ear catching funky beat of their song "Lead The Way."
I can't recall hearing it too often since though. It is one of my favs of The Eighties, hope you You Tubers appreciate my editing of Ms.Ceberano into this footage.
In Part Two Ray Martin's story continues to the end of the story transmission of course, where I have inserted a visually splendid spectacle of The Gordon Highlanders in full flight, am sure a few will recognise "Cock Of The North" a tune to take into any battle both old or new !
I would like to ask a question concerning the lovely piece following those men in kilts; This footage comes from the very historically accurate "Waterloo." {Although there is the odd historical blemish, it is still highly factual} The question is what is the piece called as the Ladies & Officers Etc. danced the night away at The Duchess of Richmond's Ball ?
I may say it myself, but one does feel a bit of an expert in the finery of Battle Tactics regarding Waterloo, but can not place this wonderful piece, I even asked on Talk Back Radio a number of years ago after playing it down the line, but alas no following callers knew, as for any other goings ons at Her Grace's Ball that night, one should not take as read certain accounts, although I would fancy they would not be too far from what went on. It is the outcome of The Battle that changed European & indeed World History that interests an old reprobate such as I Lol. But one would give anything to have been a lad at that Ball on that night....dancing the night away before battle, those were the days !

Jonas Brothers filming 3-D movie thanks to Joe-Jonas! New JB blog: Hey everyone! Thanks for all the responses to the last blog where we answered questions about Dating and Blogs. Todays questions come from Nikki & Taylor:
1. when will you do another video chat? We are trying to work out details for a live chat right now. We know that there have been a lot of rumors about a live chat. We will let everyone know through MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, YouTube, etc.
2. how would you go about dating a fan? - i mean like how would you get to know her? We are just like everyone else when it comes to love and attraction. When we meet a girl we are interested in we try to get to know her and look for ways to make that happen. The hard part is finding a place where we can have privacy to get to know someone.
3. do you like muffins?=] Yes. Love muffins. Favorites are BLUEBERRY
4.why is home depot spelled home de.pot? hehe Dont know???
5. do you feel like you guys have changed from who you used to be? Not at all. We are a whole lot more busy. We feel like we are the same people. For us it doesnt matter how many opportunities come our wayfamily is still most important. Staying grounded is also very important.
6. whats your favorite memory on the burning up tour? Playing 3 nights at Madison Square Garden was an amazing experience. We grew up outside of New York so this was very special for us.
7. do you feel like when your dating a celeb there is too much drama? A lot of the celebrities we have met are normal people too. It really depends on the person. You can have drama with anyone if they are prone to drama.
8. how does it feel to know your being compared to the Beatles? It is an honor BUT we definitely DO NOT compare ourselves to the Beatles. They are our idols. We look to them as a source of inspiration but we dont think anyone will have the impact that the Beatles have had on music.
9. what happen to the camp rock contest? - there was a contest at target if you win you get to go to the radio disney thing. and my friends and i put in over 400[seriously] things. and we havent heard about it since. Not sure. Ask Radio Disney or someone at Target. Sorry
10. can you sleep with music on? Yes, we have learned to sleep everywhere and anywhere!
Thanks everyone. We will be looking for more questions in the next few days.
Keep checking in
JB Kevin, Joe and Nick

Favourite Worst Nightmare
Studio album by Arctic Monkeys
Released 18 April 2007
Recorded December 2006
at Miloco Studios
London, England
Genre Post-punk revival
Length 37:34
Label Domino, Warner Bros.
Producer James Ford
Mike Crossey
Favourite Worst Nightmare is the second studio album by Sheffield indie rock band Arctic Monkeys that was first released in Japan on 18 April 2007[1] before being released around the world. Recorded in East London's Miloco Studios with producers James Ford and Mike Crossey, the album was preceded by the release of new single "Brianstorm" on 16 April 2007.[2] In its first week following release the album sold over 220,000 copies, emulating Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not in going straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart, albeit selling 100,000 copies fewer than their record-breaking debut. Favourite Worst Nightmare's first day sales of 85,000 outsold the rest of the Top 20 combined, while all twelve tracks from the album entered the top 200 of the UK Singles Chart in their own right.[3] In the USA, the album debuted at number seven, selling around 44,000 copies in its first week.[4] The album has since gone 2x platinum[5]in the UK and the album was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Prize. At the 2008 BRIT Awards it won Best British Album
Track History:
"Fluorescent Adolescent" is a song by the Arctic Monkeys and the second single from their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare.[1] It was released on 4 July 2007 in Japan and 9 July 2007 in the United Kingdom.
On downloads alone, "Fluorescent Adolescent" charted in the UK Singles Chart at #55, #32 and #23 in the respective weeks commencing 25 June, 2 July and 9 July 2007. The song charted at #5 when released on CD the week commencing 16 July 2007. Since 27 June 2007, "Fluorescent Adolescent" has received significant BBC Radio 1 airplay as the first song on "The A List" Playlist.[2] The songs three B-sides - "Plastic Tramp", "The Bakery" and "Too Much to Ask" appeared on the UK Singles Chart the week of the single's physical release at #153, #161 and #178 respectively.
It received a 9/10 rating from Planet Sound, their first single to do so since "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor".
The music video is based around a fight between a group of clowns and a group of non-clowns at an abandoned warehouse. The presumed leaders of the two groups have a flashback showing that they were friends when they were young children. During the flashback, photos of the band as young children are shown. Throughout the fight, each group leader attempts to kill the other. As the music video climaxes, the non-clown leader tries to run over the clown leader. However the clown leader notices the non-clown leader's car (with the non-clown leader inside) has been leaking fuel and drops his cigarette lighter. The car quickly catches fire and the clown leader looks on as his former friend burns and the music video ends. The car used is a Morris Marina.[7] This scene is similar to the ending of Radiohead's "Karma Police" video. A mistake in the video is when a non-clown member takes a chain out of the trunk and breaks the windshield. Later the non-clown leader jumps into the car and the windshield is fixed.
Lyrics:
You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
Everything's in order in a black hole
Nothing seems as pretty as the past though
The Bloody Mary's lacking her Tabasco
Remember when you used to be a rascal?
Oh the boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
But as daft as they seem
As daft as they seem
My love when you dream them up...
Flicking through a little book of sex tips
Remember when the boys were all electric?
Now when she's told she's gonna get it
I'm guessing that she'd rather just forget it
Clinging to not getting sentimental
Said she wasn't going but she went still
Likes her gentlemen not to be gentle
Was it a Mecca dauber or a betting pencil?
Oh the boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
But as daft as they seem
As daft as they seem
My love when you dream them up
Oh, where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go? Woah.
Falling about
You took a left off Last Laugh Lane
You were just sounding it out
You're not coming back again.
Falling about
You took a left off Last Laugh Lane
You were just sounding it out
You're not coming back again.
You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
Everything's in order in a black hole
Nothing seems as pretty as the past though
That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco

Original broadcast CBC:March 17, 2005
.................................
Maurice Richard's temper is as fiery as his nickname, and the Rocket is no stranger to the penalty box. The francophone star is frequently at odds with the man in charge of league discipline, NHL President Clarence Campbell, seen by many as a symbol of the anglophone elite. Richard has been given several fines and suspensions, but on March 13, 1955, he goes too far. During a scrap with the Boston Bruins, Richard deliberately injures an opponent and then punches a linesman.
Clarence Campbell responds by suspending Richard for the remainder of the season as well as the playoffs, a move that jeopardizes Richard's scoring record, the Canadiens' first place position, and their shot at winning the Stanley Cup. Worse, Campbell has the gall to attend the Canadiens' next home game. The provocative move is too much for Habs faithful, who are spoiling for a fight. They pelt the league president with food and then set off a tear gas bomb.
The Montreal Forum is evacuated, and violence spills out onto the streets of Montreal. Rioters smash windows, loot stores, and clash with police. The riot of St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1955, is seen by many as a seminal moment in the evolution of Quebec's modern nationalist movement. Fifty years later, CBC Television looks back at the milestone "Richard Riot."
The 'Richard Riot'
• As the undisputed star of the top team in the league, Maurice Richard was regularly antagonized by opposing defenders. But the Rocket gave as good as he got. He led the league in penalty minutes in 1952-53, and amassed 1,285 career penalty minutes.
• On March 13, 1955, Boston Bruins defenceman Hal Laycoe gave Richard a high stick, cutting his head open. Richard retaliated by chopping at Laycoe repeatedly with a stick. When officials intervened, Richard struck linesman Clifford Thompson.
• Two days later, Richard was hauled into league president Clarence Campbell's office. Richard had struck an official in Toronto three months earlier, and Campbell had had enough. With just three regular season games remaining, he made the unprecedented move of suspending Richard for those games plus the playoffs. (On at least one previous occasion, a player had been allowed to play in the playoffs, serving the rest of his suspension at the start of the next season.)
• NHL President Campbell was vilified in the press, but announced that he would attend the next Montreal home game. Despite urgings from Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau to stay away from the Forum, Campbell attended the game with his secretary (and future wife), her sister and a nurse. On their way in, they ran a gauntlet of 2,000 shouting fans.
• Inside the Forum, the angry crowd ignored the game and became increasingly hostile toward Campbell as the first period progressed.
• Angry fans pelted Campbell with eggs and vegetables, and then someone set off a tear gas bomb. The Forum was evacuated, and the game was ruled a forfeit to the Red Wings, who had a 4-1 lead.
• As fans poured out onto Ste-Catherine Street, the crowd turned violent. Stores within 15 blocks were looted and vandalized, causing an estimated $500,000 damage. At least 60 people were arrested, and 25 civilians and 12 policemen were injured in violence that lasted until 3 a.m.
• Maurice Richard had been sitting in the stands during the game, and was eventually convinced to go on the radio and plea for calm. "I would like to ask everyone to get behind the team and to help the boys," he said. "I will take my punishment and come back next year to help the club and the young players win the cup."
• As a result of the forfeited game, the Red Wings won the regular season. They then defeated Montreal in the seven-game Stanley Cup final.
• Maurice Richard lost the season's scoring title to his teammate Bernard (Boom Boom) Geoffrion on the last day of the regular season.
• You can hear a 1955 CBC Radio report on the riot or listen to a full-length documentary on the Richard Riot in our additional clips.
• Some academics and historians point to the Richard Riot as the beginning of Quebec's Quiet Revolution. For his part, Maurice Richard always downplayed his cultural and political role. He said he had always played hockey among "English boys" and that he had many English fans (some of whom also took part in the 1955 riot). He said he didn't really know what was going on in French Quebec at the time. "I'm not responsible for what's going on today," he told CBC Radio's Quebec Now in 1974.

*monday may 23rd*
[alexandria's p.o.v]
i woke up, and just laid in my bed for a few minutes, letting all of this actually sink in. 2 more days. thats it. i am leaving to fly to california in two days with my best friends, and the 3 hottest guys on the planet. how did this happen to me, of all people? i get out of my bed with a smile on my face. its the first day of summer, and i intend to enjoy it the correct way; by being lazy, and catching some sun. i turn on the radio and strut to my closet, and pick out a cute pair of shirts and a tank top to throw on over my swimsuit. i check my hair in the mirror, and then skip out of my room, shutting the door behind me. i walk into the kitchen to find my mom eating breakfast at the table. "mornin' mom." she takes a sip of her coffee. "good morning, sweetie. so, what are your plans for the first day of summer?" i take a bite of my peach. "i am going to lay out by the pool all day." "you arent doing anything with callie or sam?" she asked me. i shook my head. "nope. sam has to take care of jordan for most of the day, and callie had to work." i open the backdoor, and walk outside. ah, i love summer air. i sit down on one of the pool chairs, and just kind of watch the clouds go by. i close my eyes to think, but i must have fallen asleep. the next thing i knew my mother was calling out to me that someone was here to see me, and there was someone waking me up. "alex...alexandria?"
[nick's p.o.v]
all i could think of was alexandria. im not quite sure what it is that made me like her, but i do. maybe we will be best friends, or end up dating. who knows. i got out of bed and walked across the hall, to kevin and joe's room. "hey sleepyhead," joe said when he saw me. i grumbled something at him, then went into their little kitchen to find some food. i found some pancakes, and sat down at the table. "where's kev," i asked, taking a bite. joe nodded to the door. "he's in the hall talking to sam." "hey. i wonder if sam can give kev alex's number." i have a habit of thinking out loud rather than to myself. joe laughs. "or she could just give you the address to her house so you can stalk her." seriously, can i hit him yet? i get up and walk out to where kevin is. i ask him and he nods his head, saying he would get it. i smile at him, then go back into the room to finish my pancakes.. i decide to get dressed and to go for a walk. i put on some jeans, a tshirt, a vest, and some converse, and went over to my parents room. "hey mom, i'm going on a walk, okay? be back in a little bit." i said. "where are you going?" my mom said, looking up from her book. "i am..i am going to see a friend," i said, not realizing i was smiling. my mom hesitated. "okay then." i kissed her forehead, and walked out the door. gosh, it was so nice today. florida weather is always great. i started walking, looking at the address in my hand. it wasnt too far from where i was staying. a few minutes later i arrived, and knocked on the door. a woman answered. she must have been the mom, because she looked just like alex, except older. "um, is alexandria home today?" i asked. "i take it you are a friend of hers?" she asked, studying me. i nodded my head. "yes, ma'am." she smiled at me. "she is out by the pool."
[alex's p.o.v]
that voice. i open my eyes to see who was trying to wake me up. it was nick. "nick! what, what are you doing here? at my house??" i was a bit shocked. he grinned at me. "i wanted to come visit you." i thought for a second. "how did you get my address? i didnt even give you my number." he laughed. oh, that laugh. its so cute. "kevin was talking to sam, and sam gave it to kevin, who gave it to me. i wanted your number, but i forgot to get it last night. i guess there was too much excitement." ha, you and me both, nick. you and me both. "well, im glad you are here." i told him. he looked absolutely gorgeous, and he wasnt even really dressed up! he sat down in the chair next to mine. we just started talking, and before long it was like we had known each other forever. i guess we talked for a few hours, because he looked at his watch and said that he had better get going. it was time for lunch. i looked at my pool, and thought for a second. "hey, would you and your brothers like to come swim after lunch? i mean, you probably have a pool at the hotel, but crazy fans wont find ya here." he smiled. "yeah, that's true. i would love to. i will check with my brothers." i laughed. "i can see if callie and sam could come. i dont know what time they get free, but i will call them." he stood up. "sounds good. knowing the other girls might be here, will get them here for sure." he gave me a hug. he smelled so good! "see you in a little while, lex."

Chapter 8 Part 1
Song: Time For Me To Fly- JB
(Quick recap-- Kaelyn called Joe, after Joe said he'd talk to Nichole(his ex) about getting back together, after the show)
*On the phone*
Kaelyn: Oh my god guess what!!
Joe: What?
Kaelyn: Swati's mom won a contest on the radio today!!
Joe: Cool! What did she win?
Kaelyn: She won four FLOOR tickets to your concert tonight!!
Joe: Oh really, that's so cool... (nervous)
Kaelyn: Is... everything ok?
Joe: Yeah, why wouldn't everything be ok?
Kaelyn: I don't know, you sounded upset or something...
Joe: No, everything's fine. (happy)
Kaelyn: Ok, just checking. I'm soo excited for your show tonight!!
Joe: Yeah, me too. (smiling to himself)
Kaelyn: Ok, well... I better let you go. Talk to later?
Joe: Yeah, definately!
Kaelyn: Ok, (smiling to herself) bye.
Joe: Bye Kae.
*They hang up*
Joe lays in his bunk and tries to have a nap before going back in the arena. He does and wakes up an hour later and heads back into the arena with Nick and Kevin. Of course their going in from the back because if they went in the front, I don't think they'd make it to the doors safe, because of all the screaming girls. They see a huge line up of fans, waiting for the doors to open. Some of the fans caught a glimpse of the boys and screamed. JB waved to them, the fans screamed louder, and then JB headed into the arena.

TEEN IDOLS @ Big Shots - Sacramento, CA 1999 also on the bill were ONE MAN ARMY & SWINGIN UTTERS. The Teen Idols were a pop punk band based in Nashville, Tennessee. The band was formed in 1992 and quickly gained local popularity while playing at venues such as Lucy's Record Shop and receiving frequent airplay on Nashville college radio. http://myspace.com/teenidolstribute During the mid-90s, they released several EPs under the local indie label, House O' Pain. In 1996, the Nashville Music Association nominated the band for their Independent Artist of the Year award. A year later, the Teen Idols released their first full-length album under the indie label Honest Don's Hardly Used Recordings. They released two other albums under the Honest Don's label before signing to Fueled By Ramen in early 2003. The band released the album Nothing to Prove in July, 2003, but then broke up shortly thereafter. During their heyday, the Teen Idols headlined many tours in the U.S. and played support with other notable bands such as NOFX and the Queers. Some of the band members are now currently touring and recording as the band Bullets to Broadway. FULL LENGTH BIOGRAPHY In March of 1992, Phillip Hill and Matt Benson left the band they were in to play their own brand of melodic punk rock. The band was called SPRING CHICKENS. Matt was the lead singer and chief songwriter. Phillip played bass and sang back-up vocals. Their decision to leave the band was based on musical direction of the other members of the group. The other members were leaning more toward the Seattle grunge trend of SOUNDGARDEN and PEARL JAM while Phillip and Matt were getting back to bands like the RAMONES and the DESCENDENTS. After leaving the band, there was the next step: Find the right band mates! In order to do that, they had to make a demo tape of what they wanted to play. Using Matt's mom's boyfriend's 4-track, the two ex-CHICKENS and a drum machine cranked out punked up versions of RICHIE VALENS' "Come on, Let's go", the RAMONES' "S.L.U.G.", and a few originals. This time Matt was on vocals and bass and Phillip was on guitar and back-up vocals. This tape was passed along to potential band members, and after audition after agonizing audition, the boys were getting discouraged. So, they started backtracking. They remembered an old drummer from SPRING CHICKENS, Chris Trio. Chris lived about 30 miles out of town in Murfreesboro, TN which made practice a little difficult. But they did it four times a week. It was decided that they would find a bass player so Matt could be free to concentrate more on singing. He also liked the idea of being able to move around on stage more. Now they had to find a bassist who could handle Matt's bass lines and also sing a third harmony vocal. That's when Janell Saxton fell right into their laps. Phillip was very fortunate to attend the only high school in the state to offer a recording class equipped with it's own 24-track recording studio. Being a senior, he was given the bigger recording projects. One such project was recording another high school's bluegrass string band. The lead singer of this band grabbed Phillip's attention, not only for her amazing voice, but he thought it was unusual for the singer in a bluegrass band to have the side of her head shaved, spiked wristbands, and wear EXPLOITED t-shirts! But he wasn't looking for a singer and bass was the only thing on his mind. Which brings us to the next day. The regular bassist couldn't make it to the session, so Janell picked up the bass and said "I can play his parts." This was no ordinary bass. It was an upright, or what the players from the '50's called a "doghouse" bass. After the session, Janell came up to Phillip and told him she had heard that he was looking for a bass player with vocal ability and she wanted to audition! Phillip talked it over with the other guys. At first the idea didn't go over so well, but they were running out of options. Janell showed up with her dad's bass and after the first song, it was apparent from the looks on the guys' faces, she was in. Chris lived right down the street from a bar the offered an open mic night on Thursdays, so the figured, "What the hell?" After a fifteen minute set of punked-out cover songs and a couple original tunes, a beer soaked crowd of college students let them know that they were on to something good. After a show at Janell's high school talent show, the band decided that they needed a real name. They had been calling themselves STURGIS, which came from an inside joke about a local scenester named Sturgis who was at all the death metal shows and has red hair that looked like an old Brillo pad. After brainstorming topics of common interest among the band, Phillip came up with the name TEEN IDOLS. It held and imagery of the '50's greaser gangs and rock-n-roll rebels they all loved. It stuck like glue. After a handful of local shows, the next step was the studio. Phillip booked time in his studio class, and the band recorded two songs "Old days, Old ways" and "Valentine." These tracks were dumped onto tapes that were taken to the local college radio station, 91.1 WRVU in Nashville. After the two songs debuted on the local show, the dominated the top slots on the "Top Five at Five" show for six weeks! These songs were also dubbed onto cassette tapes and sold for 50 cents at TEEN IDOLS shows. This minor success proved to be Chris's downfall. He became lazy about practicing and driving to shows was a nightmare. Luckily, Janell's little brother Steve Saxton was a great drummer who was just coming out of his heavy metal phase, which made for great fast drumming and a bad haircut. With Steve replacing Chris, TEEN IDOLS were actually teens, the eldest being Phillip at 19, Janell at 17, Matt at 16, and Steve at 15. The next big step for the band came with the interest of Nashville's House O' Pain Records. Local college student, John May, was in a recording class at Middle Tennessee State University and needed a band to record for his final exam. He called Donnie Kendall from House O' Pain Records, who suggested local favorites TEEN IDOLS. Three songs from this session became TEEN IDOLS first 7" on House O' Pain Records. 500 records were pressed for the "Old days, Old ways" record. Another song, "Shadowman" was used for a House O' Pain Nashville compilation 7", "Our Scene Sucks"; to be released with House O' Pain fanzine .. 10. A friend of the band was starting his own label, Vorgo Pass, and the song "One Day" was used for his compilation 7", "Nashville Coming Fire." Soon after these records were released, the band was dealt a rough blow when Matt decided to leave the band. His reasons were "creative differences", while everyone else believed it was the influence of his new girlfriend. The band was virtually at a standstill as they auditioned new singers for six months. Finally, they found their new voice in Keaton Sims. Unfortunatly, this lineup only lasted one show. Due to the Punk Rock Lifestyle and failing grades in school, Steve had to move back to Idaho with his mom. Local scenester, Wes White, who had just left his band HELLBILLY, stepped in to fill Steve's shoes just in time to record their follow-up EP, "Nightmares" for the House O' Pain label, who pressed 1000 copies. Soon after, the band went back to the high school where they had first recorded to cover the song "Camage" for a DESCENDENTS tribute album on Coolidge Records. It was during this time that the band played with an up-and-coming Lookout! Records band, THE QUEERS. After the show, the bands swapped records. A few months later, their bassist, B-Face called to ask if TEEN IDOLS would be willing to tour with them. It seemed as if things were looking up for the band, but internal bickering would prove to be disasterous. In Janell's eyes, Wes could never measure up to her brother Steve, and she refused to get along with him. Keaton didn't like the idea of touring and tried to get out of it by getting a new job, essentially quitting the band three weeks before the tour. Janell decided that she wanted to settle down and start a family in Idaho, so she left too. Matt Benson agreed to come out of retirement to do the tour, but his house burned down. The current line-up agreed to get together for one more show to raise money for Matt and his two kids. At that show Keith Witt, whose band BRUTUS FLY had just broken up, said he would be happy to take Keaton's place. Local musician, Geoff Firebaugh said he could handle the bass spot, but without the now trademark female back-up vocals it would be far from perfect. At that same show, Rocksan Biggerstaff who was in the next generation of the same high school string band Janell came from, pointed out that she was better suited for the band. But she was sixteen and still in school, so she couldn't tour yet. The next three weeks were spent having double practices everyday, one with Geoff and one with Rocksan, who had never played bass until Phillip taught her how. After their first tour, the band went back into the studio to record their third 7", "Let's Make Noise" for House O' Pain, who pressed 1000 copies. From this session came "Go Away" for a compilation CD on Interbang Records and "Breakin' Up" for the Just Add Water Records compilation. Things were really taking off for the band when Joe King, frontman for THE QUEERS, requested two songs for his upcoming compilation for Lookout! Records. The band used a week of Rocksan's spring break to tour the east coast to New Hampshire's Fish Tracks Studios, where they recorded "One Pill" and re-recorded the song "Nightmares" with Joe King on back-up vocals. Things started to get out of control after that tour as Rocksan's ego started to swell. She was too immature to handle the band's growing popularity and imagined herself to be some sort of rock star, refusing to ride in the same van as the rest of the band or carry her own bass guitar. Eventually, Keith and Wes declared it was either her or them that had to leave the band. And with that, Rocksan was the first person to be kicked out of the TEEN IDOLS since Chris Trio. Luckily, Heather Tabor, who ofter attended TEEN IDOLS band practice, was a quick study and jumped headfirst into learning to play bass and sing. Within a week and a half, Heather played her first show. Two months later, in July of 1996, the band ventured west on a six week long tour they booked themselves with Philadelphia natives, THE HALFLINGS. On this tour, the stresses of the road proved to be too much for Wes to handle and he decided to leave the band after the tour. THE HALFLINGS were having similar difficulties and their drummer Matt "Drastic" Yonker said that he would move to Nashville to play for TEEN IDOLS. In September of 1996, Matt moved to Nashville and became an official member of TEEN IDOLS. Not long after Matt had joined, Phillip got a call from SCREECHING WEASEL/RIVERDALES frontman Ben Weasel. Ben said he was interested in producing a few new bands and TEEN IDOLS was the first one he was interested in. SCREECHING WEASEL had just signed a record deal with Fat Wreck Chords and he wanted to try to get TEEN IDOLS a deal for a 7" on that label. He sent Fat Wreck Chords label owner/NOFX frontman Fat Mike a copy of the "Let's Make Noise" 7". Mike said he needed to hear the new lineup before making a decision, so TEEN IDOLS recorded a five-song demo tape at the famous Sonic Iguana Studios in Lafayette, Indiana. With Mass Giorgini in the producer's chair, they ripped through five new songs. Fat Mike liked the tape so much, he decided to sign them to a two album record deal for his new label Honest Don's Hardly Used Recordings. So, in the spring of 1997, TEEN IDOLS went to Chicago's Uberstudio and recorded fourteen blazing punk anthems with Ben Weasel in the producer's chair and Mass Giorgini at the controls. The self titled record came out November 4th, 1997. And the rest, as they say, is history....

SONG! Go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yff9nCctMkg

*Nicks P.O.V*
I walked home after I gave Ashley a kiss on the cheek. I smiled while walking home cause before I crossed the street, I caught a glance of her face. It was shocked. And happy. Which made me happy. I walked into my house and I heard Joe and Kevin in the kitchen, so I walked in.
"Nick! Finally youre home!" Joe said.
"Wow Joe, make it sound like I was gone for like a year."
"Well 2 hours. Close enough." I looked up at him after he said that. "What?"
"Never mind. And whats wrong with that? I was catching up with Ashley and we lost track of the time."
"Sure you did..."
"JOE!" I yelled at him.
"Nick, come on. Its so obvious that you like her," Kevin pitched in.
"What are you talking about? No I don't..." I said looked down at the table.
"Nick. Were youre brothers we can tell," Joe retaliated.
"Guys, seriously, were JUST FRIENDS."
Kevin started laughing. "I was so right."
"Kevin, what are you talking about?"
"You wrote Just Friends for Ashley... didn't you?" I just stared at him. I said I wrote it for someone close, but not who specifically.
"No... I-I... didn't..." I said looking at them just stare at me, waiting for me to cave. I didn't want to but their stares were just too intense. "Fine I did ok! Happy?"
Joe smiled. "Nick, how long have you liked her?"
"On and off since 5th grade..."
"Holy crap Nick! Why didnt you tell us?" Kevin asked.
"Because I didn't want you to freak out about it."
Kevin laughed. "Us? Freak out? Never! So when you gonna ask her out?"
"Have you kissed her yet?"
"Did you tell her that you like her?" They kept asking me all these questions, which was pretty overwhelming.
"GUYS!" They stopped after that. "This is what Im talking about..."
"Come on Nick, were just having fun," Kevin said pouring himself some more coffee.
"Yeah chill dude. But seriously, when are you gonna ask her out?"
"Well since you MUST know Joe, I dont know. But... tonight I did tell her that me and Miley were over. So maybe soon I will," I said to Joe.
"You better," Kevin said. "Shes an awesome girl, and she wont treat you as bad as Miley did."
"Yeah, I know," I said smiling before walking up the stairs.
I got into my room and I didn't really have any idea what to do, so I opened my instant messaging. Nobody was on. I was about to log off when a Ashley logged on.
"Should I talk to her? No that might seem to forward. But if I don't, she'll think I'm ignoring her. But if I jump at every chance I have to talk to her, she might catch on that I like her..."
Before I could finish the argument in my head, a little box popped up.
"Hey you ;)" Ashley sent me. I smiled. She knew I liked the little wink smileys.
"Nothing much, just chilling. In my room," I sent back.
"Cool. Well I just wanted to say goodnight before I went to bed. And I wanted to thank you for today."
"No problem. It was fun."
"Totally. Oh I love this song..." I looked at my radio and turned it on to our hit station. I knew she was listening to it. "Crush?"
"Yeah, I'm a sucker for David Archuleta songs :p" I laughed. I was about to reply when she sent me another IM. "Anyways I'm gonna go to bed. So I'll ttyl. Night."
"Night Ash," I sent her. After that, she logged off, and pretty soon I did the same. I laid down on my bed and looked up at my ceiling, and then at my guitar. It was right here when I wrote Just Friends. It was after I had kissed her on the cheek... and realized that I really liked her. Me and her have always been close... and shes always there for me. But sometimes, I really wish she knew how I felt about her...
"Do you ever think, were you're all alone
All that we can be, where this thing can go
I'm I crazy or falling in love, is it real or just another crush?
Do you catch your breath, when I look at you
Are you holding back, like the way I do
Cause I'm trying and trying to walk away
But I know this crush ain't going away."
