This is one of many short video segments which will be added to the Digital Tipping Point (DTP) archive. This particular segment is our first proof of concept video short. It's not really a trailer, because a trailer is a much more complete promotional short used to give the viewers a feel for the final product. This proof of concept, by contrast, is really just to see how these particular segments would look together; to introduce a few of our interviewees; to show the audience some of the basic ideas in our film; and to show funders that we have interviewed some fairly significant political leaders.
There are some very dramatic moments in this segment. Lots of people have heard that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer interrupted a skiing vacation to visit the Mayor of Munich when he heard that Munich was considering moving to free open source software. It's true, which is why the Munich story has captured the imagination of lots of people following the digital tipping point. Munich Mayor Christian Ude is a remarkably charismatic individual, and he opens this segment by asking, "The question is, will the dam break!" He's referring, of course, to his city's decision to move to open source, and the potential domino effect that might have on the idustry.
Jack Messman, the brillian former CEO and Chairman of Novell who oversaw the acquisition of some major open source assets such as SuSE Linux, talks about why the open source community is such a powerful force in the software industry. In particular, Jack talks about how the community played a role in Novell's decision to spit in the face of the mammoth software market leader, Microsoft, and begin offering software and services for desktop PCs, Microsoft's bread and butter market.
Next, Eddie Bleasedale, a prominent computer consultant to the British government, talks about a conference at which Bill Gates says that a monopoly can be broken if 20% of the market moves toward a competing technology, and that it was Bill's job to make sure that 20% threshold is never reached.
Also appearing here is the equally charismatic Gilberto Gil, a rock star who was exiled from his Brazilian homeland during Brazil's authoritarian period, and later was appointed by Brazilian President Lula da Silva to be the Culture Minister of Brazil, which is the highest government post ever held by an African Brazilian. You can easily see why Minister Gil is such a popular performer; he holds your attention with his charming smile while talking about how free open source software is important to freedom in a larger social sense. Minister Gil has a breath-taking line at the end of this segment in which he talks about free open source as "walking toward freedom." If I were to say that line, no one would ever believe it. But when Minister Gil says it, you can't help but believe it's true, he says it so eloquently. Every single Brazilian I have ever met knows and loves this man, and it's easy to see why. Next time you meet a Brazilian, ask his or her opinion of Gilberto Gil, and see what response you get.

the third film i think bane should be the villain
Bane:
"The man who broke the Bat" first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (1993). He was born in the "Carribean Republic of Santa Prisca," in a prison called Pena Duro (meaning "the hard stone"). Bane's father had been a revolutionary, and had escaped Santa Prisca's law. The government decreed that the boy would serve his father's sentence, and so Bane grew up surrounded by hardship and violence. Early on, the boy lost his innocence, defying his warden and earning his name: "I will not have him in my prison! He is a bane to everything holy!" Bane builds himself up during his time in Pena Duro, reading every book he can get his hands on and building his physique to peak human capacity. He earns the loyalty of his fellow prisoners and learns of a distant place called Gotham where the most powerful man dresses like a bat. Whetting his heart like a stone, Bane vows to destroy the Batman. When scientists working on a "super-soldier" serum look for test subjects at the prison, Bane is volunteered. He is given a substance derived from a drug called "Venom" and nearly killed - yet he survives, stronger and more powerful for the experience, and with a taste for the drug. Eventually he escapes from Pena Duro, frees his loyal followers, and sets his sights on Gotham and its protector.
In the Knightfall storyline, Bane plots to break the Batman by wearing down his physical and mental endurance. Releasing the inmates of Arkham Asylum, Bane sets Batman against a veritable gauntlet of foes. After each has had their turn at Bat (so to speak) Bane executes a perfectly-timed, brutal assault on his enemy. The fight concludes in the Batcave, with Bane breaking Batman's back. He then throws his defeated enemy from Gotham's rooftops to its streets, publicly humiliating the Dark Knight.
Bane was essentially a gimmick who developed into an interesting character. At first, he was little more than a plot device - an enemy who could finally beat Batman in physical combat. Yet after a time, he's taken his place in the rogues gallery both as a serious threat to the Batman and as interesting character in his own right. He's yet another reflection of Batman's character - both men have molded every facet of their lives to fit their obsessions. Some subsequent storylines - one involving Bane with arch Bat-enemy Ra's al Ghul and his daughter, Talia (Batman: Bane of the Demon), and another teaming Bane up with Batman himself in a search for the identity of the former's father (a Gotham Knights story arc) - have added to the character's interest.
Bane's forays into other media have had mixed results. He had a single appearance on the original Batman animated show (voiced by Henry Silva), in which he served as a hired assassin, summoned from South America by Rupert Thorne to kill the Batman (Silva would play the character again in the newer, revamped Batman/Superman Adventures, though Bane was played by Hector Elizondo in the direct-to-video film Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman). The animated Bane is less successful than his comic book counterpart, failing to break Batman's back (Batman grabs his Venom-tube just before the villain can execute the maneuver). The character, however, is interesting - his intelligence is carefully portrayed in the stories, and he poses a credible threat to his enemy. The same cannot be said of Batman & Robin's Bane, the late Jeep Swenson, who had the thankless task of playing second fiddle to Uma Thurman's wretched Poison Ivy. This film's Bane is an inflatable, mindless thug who shrinks down to wimp-size when Batgirl and Robin bonk him on the beezer. Bane has also appeared on The Batman (performed by Joaquim de Almeida). In this cartoon, he's a superhuman juggernaut, powered by Venom and rage to fight the Batman, who's fortunately smart enough to build a Bat-Robot to fight him.

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Guest:Ken Silva
There is a growing fascination among evangelicals who are claiming to find truth by embracing elements of medieval mysticism as well as the modern, Eastern influenced mysticism.
To prove the point, Ingrid played a You Tube audio clip of Christian apologist Ravi Zacharius who, while discussing homosexuality, referenced Henri Nouwen as being a great saint of recent memory. Once a professor of psychology at Harvard University, Nouwen believed that it was his call to help every person claim his or her way to God. That's a message of universalism, not Christian theology.
As you listen to this program you'll learn about other personalities, past and present, that support a union of Christianity and mysticism. You'll also discover how this movement is actually leading people toward neo-pietism as it attempts to connect them into union with God.

Is Rob Bell a Christian? Listen to Rob Bell's hypocrisy and decide for yourself.
There aren't many bells and whistles to this video, but I believe the message needed to get out quickly so I didn't spend much time on that aspect. This is about 3 hours long (2 partial podcasts), but it has pretty much everything that needs to be said regarding a life-talk Bell gave recently. Pastor Ken Silva joins Chris Rosebrough for the latter half of this video.

http://www.HouseMusicTV.com - For when you want to WATCH more than you want to LISTEN...
Back to Miami Beach to DJ at SUITE with STAN KOLEV. I am only going to be in Miami for about 9 hours. After my set I will go straight back to the airport and go back to New York City to continue the seriously heavy work load of Pre-WMC preparations. This is the 4th time I have been requested to DJ at SUITE since New Years and I have to say that I really am enjoying this new found vibe in Miami Beach. For what ever reason, there is a lack in Miami of what I am capable of providing. Tonight at SUITE is an ED HARDY Fashion Show, by Desginer CHRISTIAN AUDIGIER.
